Mark Zuckerberg has always been the kid who always ends up on the wrong side of the law, from coming up with Facebook (the app) with a group of friends who ended up becoming enemies, to being a government target after failing to be honest with his privacy policies and what they entail. With everything that threatens his empire, the all-day grey shirt wearing robot keeps prevailing by buying more stock and owning 88% of the social media market. Someone who goes through a lot of stress, just decides to buy more of that stress, this started when he purchased Instagram, (Facebook acquired the service for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock), eliminating the service as a competitor. After that the tech giant want on to also purchase WhatsApp.Inc for $19bn, not in stock, this was a full purchase that bought out both owners of the tech that is WhatsApp.
Fast forward to now, my angle is that if the guy didn’t own all social media platforms, we wouldn’t have had lost functionality to all of them, and he wouldn’t have lost so much. More money more problems, is equivalent to more ownership more power, and with that power comes a huge responsibility to cater to even wider audience that depend on you daily for communication. Other tech giants like Telegram and Twitter were prevailing on this downfall, as they have been warning the market of Facebook’s short comings and privacy concerns. This has then made it clear that Facebook is not in the clear, and it might just be as replaceable as its competitors claim. this might just be one of the many shutdowns we will see, and if that is the case then, more stock will be lost from Facebook.
